The Three Basics for First-Rate Communication


There are not many avenues that lead to success in the business world that do not require first-rate communication skills. Clear, effective communication is what allows you to deliver messages in a way that will be heard and acted upon.

The advice of communication skills training professionals? Do not hinder your job effectiveness by neglecting any one of the following three basics:

  1. Empathy
    When you connect emotionally with your audience, your words and thoughts will carry far more weight. Focus on your audience and show them that you understand what matters to them.
  1. Authority
    On whatever subject you choose to speak, establish your credibility. Why should others listen to you? Either you should be able to prove that you know what you are talking about or, at least, that you are honest in your claims.
  1. Reasoning
    Your message should be based on sound logic that your audience can easily follow. Provide data that prove your points and build your case step by step.
